|Renewal Center Program Overview|
You’ve been abused by a spiritual leader, someone you trusted, and someone who shared the Word of God with you and perhaps twisted and misconstrued it to meet his/her own selfish desires. Now you need help understanding what happened to you, how you became so vulnerable, where was God in all of this, and how you (and your spouse, if married) can heal and move forward in your life.
At The Hope of Survivors, we strive to provide compassionate and empathetic care, based on biblical principles and personal experience. You won’t find a clinical setting here. You won’t feel as though you’re in a psychiatrist’s office. You will feel at home, in a safe environment, where you will be truly ministered to and nurtured as you seek healing. We have found that victims begin to thrive when they have an opportunity to share their experience with others who understand the depths of their pain because they’ve gone through it also and have subsequently experienced the healing that God alone provides. Acts 9:34 says, “Jesus Christ maketh thee whole.” That is our desire for you!
The Hope of Survivors is not a counseling center, but a ministry—founded to walk alongside the wounded and facilitate a renewed relationship with their Savior as they heal and overcome the devastation of clergy sexual abuse. Our calling and purpose, by the power of Christ, is to “heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.” (Luke 4:18)
As you attend a 3-day or 5-day program at the Renewal Center, you will experience times for prayer, Bible study, individual support, group discussion, educational programs and materials, personal reflection, reconnection to God and your spouse, and the love and support of those who care and do their best to minister to your needs. We do not follow a strict schedule or program outline because we want you to have the flexibility of addressing the issues and questions that are most important to you, and we want to allow the Holy Spirit to guide and directs us as we minister to you and your spouse.
The only difference between the 3-day and 5-day programs is time. We encourage you to take as much time as you possibly can to avail yourself of the best opportunity for healing. Extended stays may be available upon request.
While attending a program at the Renewal Center, you will be staying in a private bedroom. Some rooms have private bathrooms as well. You will receive breakfast, lunch and dinner each day, and you will have use of the Renewal Center’s many comfortable sitting areas to read, rest, communicate with your spouse or pray. If time allows, you may also be invited to go on short field trips around the local area, as we have found that this helps you and your spouse to reconnect and establish a healthy bond once again.
Note: The Renewal Center is a drug, alcohol and tobacco-free facility.
